MedCom Advisors to Help Market OsteoMed Products

MedCom will also provide training and protocol development for spine device.

Colts Neck, N.J.-based MedCom Advisors has signed an agreement with OsteoMed for the marketing of OsteoMed’s PrimaLOK SP interspinous fusion system and the development of its MI-Port fusion procedure. In the agreement, MedCom will provide training and protocol development for the use of the PrimaLOK SP in minimally invasive fusion procedures.

The PrimaLOK SP has polyaxial grips designed to optimize implant fixation to the spinous
processes, and is ideal for L5-S1 placement. It comes in seven sizes from 4 mm-18 mm to accommodate variations in patient anatomy.

“The collaboration of MedCom and OsteoMed has already led to the development of the MI-Port fusion procedure for minimally invasive lumbar interbody fusion,” said Gordon Donald, M.D., managing physician for MedCom. “This spine procedure can be performed efficiently, cost effectively and reproducibly with a very short learning curve compared with other MIS (minimally invasive surgery) techniques. This spine procedure is ideal for the ambulatory surgical environment.”

The company stated that the unique experience of the MedCom organization and the innovativeness of OsteoMed PrimaLOK SP is an exceptional development opportunity. The company believes their surgeons can provide timely product and procedure feedback on current as well as new medical products.

MedCom is a medical device development company composed of twenty four neuro and orthopedic spine surgeons.

OsteoMed, based in Addison, Texas, makes devices for small-bone orthopedics, craniomaxillofacial, neuro, and spine surgical specialties.
